Dear Mother Wound, I Release You with Love...

an ode to the mothers who tried their best, and yet their best caused us pain
& to the inner children that are cast in the shadows waiting to still be seen.

Mother & Daughter intimately hugging

Dear Mother Wound,

I release with love
the mother I wish I had
for she was never taught how to exist

I release with love
the mother I wish showed up when I’m hurting
For she learned to suppress her pain

I release with love
the mother I wish consoled me
for she fears sadness

I release with love
the mother I wish uplifted me
for she was dragged down by her very own

I release with love
the mother I wish loved me in ways that I needed
For she doesn’t know how to love herself

I release with love
the mother I wish I could lean on
For she only stands tall to show strength

I release with love
the mother I wish I could trust
For she has learned the world is unsafe

I release with love
the mother I wish knew how to feel joy
For she can’t connect to her playfulness

I call forward with love
the mother that needs healing
For she cannot give what she does not experience:
unconditional love
